# Current Research Baseline

The current comparison anchor is **V5 typed high-resolution appearance, step 4500**.

Its self-contained baseline bundle is:

`baselines/v5_typed_appearance_step4500/`

This is a movable research baseline, not a ban on future changes. New mechanisms may be
implemented and evaluated, but they must retain V5 as an explicit comparator until a candidate
passes a predeclared replacement gate. V6, V6a.1, the certificate branches, MapAnything, and V8
remain preserved as negative or exploratory evidence; none of them silently replaces this anchor.

Important evidence boundary: V5 step 4500 was selected on a single Hypersim training window. Its
metrics establish a capacity and regression reference only. They are not validation, test,
external-baseline, or CVPR-level results.
